DME Company Awards Two with $1,000 Scholarships
Plastics technology student and long-time moldmaker are recipients
On the heels of awarding $1,000 scholarships to eight students enrolled in plastics-related majors at
educational institutions across the United States, DME has selected two additional awardees for its
Plastics University Scholarship Program.
Ted Fehrman, who began his career at Fehrman Tool and Die, Byesville, Ohio, in 1984 as a
moldmaker, received a $1,000 scholarship to support his quest for an academic degree from Zane
State College in Zanesville, Ohio. Our student recipient was Jeremy Oehlert, a Chanute, Kansas
resident and college senior majoring in Plastics Engineering Technology at Pittsburg State
University in Pittsburg, Kansas, received a $1,000 scholarship.
“The DME Plastics University Scholarship Program is a proactive measure we’re taking to enhance
education in plastics-elated fields,” said Dave Lawrence, President of DME. “We are committed to
advancing training and education within the plastics industry and would like to congratulate Ted
and Jeremy for their dedication to this important field.”
How to Apply for a DME Scholarship
Students interested in applying for the DME Company Student Scholarship Program must be
enrolled in a plastics program at any accredited trade school/university offering a 2-year certificate,
2-year associate, or 4-year bachelor’s degree.
Employees of companies that are DME customers are also eligible to apply for continuing
education funds that may be applied to their plastics-related educational endeavors. Applicants
enrolled in related coursework will be considered if they demonstrate a strong academic emphasis
and interest in plastics.
The scholarship and continuing education funds applications (available at www.dme.net/education) must be received by July 30, 2010 for consideration of monetary awards that will be applied to the winners’ tuition responsibilities for the 2010 fall semester.
